New Study Needs Your Deployment Stories!
By Katie • Mar 1st, 2009 • Category: Featured, In the Press, Post-Deployment, Pre-DeploymentA University in Oregon has a grant to create a website to help military spouses through deployment.
Talk about a much-needed resource!
In order to create this site, and have it be helpful, they need YOUR input.
WHO: Spouses/partners of service members who have been deployed
WHAT: A self-help website is being created by Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) and the National Institutes of Health.
WHY: The website will be designed to provide support for spouses/partners of service members who are deployed, or have been deployed.
HOW: Call Dr. Colleen Lewy at 503-418-3768 to set up a time to be interviewed.
Kelly and I have both done interviews for this study.
The interview was very private – I did not have to give any details about myself, Paul or the deployment… I just talked about my feelings and what would have helped me.
Please – do a good deed for your fellow military spouses!
(Oh – and you get a $30 Fred Meyer gift card for doing it! 😉
Katie is of the opinion that re-deployment is harder than deployment itself. The year Paul and I spent apart was tough, but nothing could have prepared me for trying to come back together again. Homecoming was full of challenges I never expected - no matter how many books I read!
